A report has been received indicating that Illinois College used navy blue helmets at least as early as 1972, and that for several years during the 1970s, the helmet logo featured an outline of the state of Illinois.
In 2004, the team used a decal consisting of the word "Illinois" in a cursive style with a "tail". The letters were blue and were worn on white helmet shells. I would appreciate a copy of the 2004 helmet decal so that I may add this one to the web site. Below is a photo of the 2004 helmet:

*1 During at least parts of the 2006 season the numerals were worn on the right sides of the helmets only, with the left sides remaining "blank", and I suspect that this scheme was in place throughout the period 2005=2007.
