QUICK ANALYSIS

November 28, 2003 - If you are searching for a fresh-faced ball club with tons of promise, look no further. The Rams proved in 2002 that exceeding expectations has become a consistent part of their nature. Coach Sonny Lubick has worked wonders over the years with fairly talented teams (doubters need only check Lubbick's MWC 31-9 road record and 39-19 overall on the road). He now has even more talent, so watch Colorado State start to again make waves on the BCS scene. They already cracked the BCS poll for the first time in history during their 2002 run - NationalChamps.net saw this one coming in our 2002 preview. Once again the services of gritty QB Bradlee Van Pelt are available. His protective front returns as well. The defense has some capable All-Americans, in particular Dexter Wynn. Keep an eye on the young CB from Cheyenne, Ben Stratton…he will be a good one. Mountain West Conference Championships and Liberty Bowl bids seem to be beneath this team now. They now have all the talent and special chemistry to push the national powers. Consistency will be their key to success, something missing last year (wins at Virginia, Colorado…losses to Fresno State, UNLV).
