QUICK ANALYSIS

November 28, 2003 - After that great 2001 close out (won the SEC Championship as well as a Sugar Bowl), this teams seems to keep floating between #10 and #20. It's hard to put a finger on what LSU can really do. They are quite an enigma. Before Matt Mauck went down with an injury at QB, the Tigers were playing so-so ball. His follow up had good days and bad. We feel it is Mauck's job to lose. LaBrandon Toefield will give it another shot at running back after being decimated with injuries the last few seasons. He was pegged as the next Baton Rouge star. Coaches have some defensive holes to work on in the off-season. Nick Saban and staff have recruited well since their arrival. Now it's time for the kids to start working their way into the program. Will this pay off? Most pollsters will likely situate the Tigers around this spot with a wait-and-see attitude. For LSU to crack the Top 10, they will need to be consistent and keep the majority of the offensive skill positions healthy.
