The
NationalChamps.net Heisman Grading System ® takes
into account six main factors when attempting to measure Heisman
Candidates. Each category is weighted in order of importance.
- STATISTICS
- a combination of previous year's statistics, plus estimation
on possibilities for 2003
- POSITION
- 68 Heisman presentations have yielded trophies to 40 RBs,
22 QBs, 3 WRs, and 3 Defensive players. However, the award
has been presented to a QB in 8 of the last 14 years and
the past three years in a row. Under this scenario, NationalChamps.net
awards points as such: QB = 5 points, RB = 5 points, WR
= 3 pts.
- TEAM
SUCCESS - Wins and losses for 2003
- EXPOSURE
- Measured by the amount of times each team appears on national
television versus Top 50 opposition in conjunction with
the region each team resides.
- SENIORITY
- Senior = 5 pts., Junior = 4 pts., Sophomore = 3 pts.
- SCHEDULE
- difficulty of 2003 opponents
A scale
of 1-5 is used to rate each component with 5 being the highest.
The totals are then weighted and the resulting total displays
a percentile basis for winning the Heisman Trophy.
