* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups, and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2004 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
Before
scoffing at such a high ranking for this MAC team,
understand that we are placing an asterisk by
the name Ben Roethlisberger. Obviously, if the
junior QB bolts early to the NFL, the Redhawks
are likely to slide way down the poll. The MAC
does warrant this placement after its glowing
success from 2003, especially with the Redhawks,
who have proven to be one of the hottest Top 20
teams. All three wide-outs return after the RedHawks
posted well over 2000 total yards receiving. Life
could not get much sweeter for Roethlisberger's
2004 leading Heisman Campaign. The defense has
staples at every unit and is led by team-leading
tackler Matt Pusateri at SS. Defensive coaches
will have the luxury of four veterans in the secondary,
which should make the opponent's task of keeping
up with the high scoring affairs almost impossible.
If a MAC team is going to break the BCS ice, this
would certainly be considered the group to accomplish
such a feat.
