Freshman
sensation Adrian Peterson should make
this area a positive for at least
two more seasons. Add in depth with
senior Kejuan Jones and this group
is set. Can a new look OL continue
to open holes?

The
defense has holes of inexperience
all across the board and the DL will
be the neediest. Past recruiting classes
are sure to fill the gaps. But until
a few snaps occur, this area will
remain a question mark with new faces.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2005 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
Take
it easy, Sooner fans. For once, we don't have
OU in the top three. But there's no reason this
team cannot finish with a trip to Pasadena. The
returning experience is short, but the talent
is long, thanks in part to head coach Bob Stoops
and his continued success at recruiting the high
school athlete. For those thinking a drop off
will occur at the QB position with Heisman winner
Jason White finally leaving, you might be mistaken.
Junior Paul Thompson, as we stated in the 2004
Preview, had one of the best spring seasons Norman
had ever seen. His decision to redshirt this past
fall, with White coming back for a sixth year,
was wise. The media craze that true freshman RB
Adrian Peterson earned will carry over along with
RB Kejuan Jones, who actually started in as many
games as did Peterson. Needless to say, this position
is not an issue. The biggest questions coaches
will try to answer this off-season will be concerning
the lines, and for once, a star LB appears to
be missing after years of watching Lance Mitchell
and Teddy Lehman push for post-season honors.
The secondary is comparable to the usual Sooner
stable of all-americans with three (or more) players
donning future NFL labels. Let's not fool anyone
- the Big XII is still under Texas/Oklahoma ownership.
When they square off October 8th, 2005, the winner
will again (likely) become an instant front-runner
for the conference and to no surprise...the national
championship.
