See
McNeal run. See McNeal pass. He's
the fastest QB around, on turf or
on grass. Look for his senior year
to be his best. Geoff Hangarnter departs
at tackle, but the remaining nucleus
is experienced.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2005 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
Here
is a team that is "moving on up, to a deluxe
ranking in the sky"
sing it with us
now, c'mon. True, the Aggies lost three of their
last four regular season games. But two of those
were versus top five rivals Texas and Oklahoma,
with the Aggies playing well in both close losses.
A&M has not closed the gap on these lofty
adversaries in the Big XII South, but they return
enough talent to merit a solid top 20 slot this
preseason. A large part of that reasoning falls
on the back, or should we say legs, of (now) senior
Reggie McNeal. McNeal is one of those QBs who
can run like the wind. More importantly, he can
throw as demonstrated in the conference pass rankings
(#2 behind only Texas Tech, which says a lot because
Tech throws about 70% of the time compared to
44% for A&M). Offensive success will be found
in all facets. The key will be how much this 61st-ranked
(total) defense improves. The secondary, outside
of Jaxon Appel's tackling ability, leaves much
room for improvement. In particular, new replacements
have to be found on the corners, which can actually
be a blessing in disguise as seeing how the secondary
ranked 93rd in 2004. The front lines should be
fine. All of the sudden, due to his advances,
the expectations are greater for Coach Dennis
Franchione. We promise, Texas A&M will receive
a good bit of preseason hype.
