BEST
PLAYER: QB John Beck
TOP
NEWCOMER: OG Ray Feinga
STRENGTH:
Coming off first team All-MWC honors, QB John
Beck may be poised for his best season yet after
totaling 7,136 career yards and 47 TDs, he is
writing the BYU record books and has the most
starts of any BYU QB in history; In a pass-oriented
system, RB Curtis Brown still has what it takes
when compared to some of the better backs across
the nation, he averaged 5.3 yards per carry last
year which placed in on the All-MWC list; The
strength of the pass catchers is at TE with Harline
and Coates, no two better TEs exist anywhere.
CONCERN:
Lack of a speed burner/deep threat at WR; depth
is crucial on the OL as transfers and freshmen
attempt to give the coaches some other options.

DEFENSE |
BEST
PLAYER: LB Cameron Jensen
TOP
NEWCOMER: DE Kyle Leukenga
STRENGTH:
Nine LBs are available to contribute including
the star of the defense Cameron Jenson, who was
voted the team's defensive MVP of a year ago;
Both CBs have starting experience.
CONCERN:
Replacing the entire three-man starting rotation
of the DL is of major concern, experience is at
a bare minimum; The nation's 104th nationally
ranked pass defense of '05 has some questions
to answer, the safety position has no one of significance
to answer the call.

SPECIAL TEAMS |
KICKER
Senior Jared McLaughlin has become the man after waiting
for three seasons behind Matt Payne. He was perfect
from inside 39 yards and if his leg strength can improve,
he could be one of the league’s best.
PUNTER
Washington transfer Derek McLaughlin, no relation to
the kicker, is back after averaging over 40 yards last
season. He landed only 13 of 48 punts inside the 20.
