BEST
PLAYER: TE Martin Rucker
STAR
ON THE RISE: WR Will Franklin
STRENGTH:
Plenty of talent at WR and TE, WR Will Franklin
is more than capable of filling the void left
by the departed Sean Coffey while Brad Ekwerekwu
also brings a ton of experience; The TEs are as
loaded as anyone in the league, maybe the country,
Rucker and Coffman combined for 94 catches in
2005; The OL is a veteran group, center Adam Spieker
will take over for departed All-Big 12 performer
Tony Palmer.
CONCERN:
13,000 yards of total offense has left the school
with QB Brad Smith's departure, incumbent Chase
Daniel is a different style of QB (more down-the-field
passing and less mobility) and only time will
tell how he measures up; With Smith's departure,
more of the running load will now fall on the
RBs, this team needs more out its ball carriers.

DEFENSE |
BEST
PLAYER: DE Brian Smith
STAR
ON THE RISE: DT Lorenzo Williams
STRENGTH:
As opposed to the prior preseason, five players
on the DL have significant experience with senior
DE Brian Smith leading the way; LB is another
area full of experience, seniors Dedrick Harrington
and Marcus Bacon are capable of making big plays
on an occasion; The front seven on defense can
hold their own with any team
CONCERN:
Everyone will be holding their breath as the new
secondary takes the field, especially at CB where
both starters and their top backup have departed;
Only one CB (Domonique Johnson) has significant
experience and safety David Overstreet missed
the spring with off-season knee surgery.

SPECIAL TEAMS |
KICKER/PUNTER
It's a one-man show with Adam Crossett, who handles
placekicking, punting and kickoff duties. He seems to
feel right at home kicking the long FGs but has problems
with the short ones. In Missouri's bowl victory over
South Carolina, Crossett missed a 22-yarder but was
able to boom through a 50-yarder with no problem. His
punting ability has a huge upside and his 42.7 average
should be climbing even higher.
