No surprise here. Although both starting CBs go, this is Defensive Back University. Will Devin Hester ever live up to his hype as one?

Offensive Line

Although injuries effected this unit all of last year, four of the five main stays were seniors. Results will have to improve with some experienced but non-proven starters.

TE Greg Olsen

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic gauge for listing players that departed and players that received the most playing experience (consistent starters). NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers, injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates. Their coverage will begin with our full 2006 Preseason Preview due out this coming spring.

QUICK ANALYSIS

Larry Coker is going to have another plethora of talent to shove down opponents’ throats, with plenty of south Florida speed to be found on both sides of the ball. It is useless to post personnel losses for a team that has been able to successfully reload every year that people count them out due to departures. His kinks worked out, soon-to-be junior QB Kyle Wright will continue to improve, even with a revamped line. The size at WR compliments the running game as YAC and downfield blocking keep the Canes rolling even through physical foes like FSU and Virginia Tech. What has to be patched on D shows no area is overly devastated. Well-procured reserves will become ferocious starters so not a beat is missed for this top-rated pass efficiency defense. Besides VT, the Canes were the only D to hold foes collectively to under four yards per play, eclipsing that with a mark around 3.5 per for most of the year. A trip into Louisville looks interesting, but non-cons FIU and Florida A&M don’t, and FSU at home looks just as unfulfilling as their other recent contests have been. In a conference where eight of the 12 teams are above .500, just winning the league crown should be the Canes’ first step before trying to ascend to the larger title. That said, talent alone means it is annually feasible for Miami to win it all, so put them on any ‘short lists’ you have for serious contenders.
