Offensive Line

A veteran group returns to Eugene to help ease the growing pains the new QBs and RBs will encounter.

Defensive Back

Being short on DBs is never a good formula for playing in the high scoring Pac Ten. The unit fared well for the most part in '05, but the big names all go.

WR James Finley

DT Haloti Ngata

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic gauge for listing players that departed and players that received the most playing experience (consistent starters). NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers, injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates. Their coverage will begin with our full 2006 Preseason Preview due out this coming spring.

QUICK ANALYSIS

Highlighted by five returning starters on the offensive line, the next set of Ducks seems all in a row for top 10 success in Eugene. Dennis Dixon takes over the helm, and along with other highly-anticipated backfield-mate Jonathan Stewart, the team’s future looks much brighter than many realize. When you factor in their size at WR, this is an Oregon team many won’t see coming. Secondary questions will affect team results in their pass-happy conference, and the front seven’s ability to strengthen with key losses will equally measure how far the Ducks fly. Southern Cal seems to make other Pac Ten teams disappear when most configure the national picture, yet this Oregon team cannot be forgotten when we break down what 2006 holds. Going into Los Angeles (USC), Fresno and Berkeley (Cal) looks daunting, to say the least. But character and champions are built out of adversity, so kudos to the way the Ducks aggressively compose their SOS. If they can go through the regular season again with but one loss, we will know 2004’s losing mark was an aberration and those turn-of-the-millennium days (went 30-6 from 1999 through 2001) will be back for a few more campaigns.
