Very scary! We've
been hearing about this hard-nosed
group all season. The same combination
returns, giving JoePa the best set
of LBs anywhere.

Offensive
Line
|
PSU has struggled
over the years to put together a dominating
front line. Progress may take a step
back as the whole unit appears gutted.
The only one back is at least the
best of the bunch in Levi Brown.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and players that
received the most playing experience (consistent starters).
NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing
personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates.
Their coverage will begin with our full 2006 Preseason
Preview due out this coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS
|
Yes,
they are back to stay. Posting losing seasons
four out of the last five years was hard to overcome,
but Joe Pa bounced back and looks like he will
keep coaching until he has to be carted off. Morelli
starting as their new QB needs more evaluation
before superlatives find this ex-no.2 pro-style
recruit, and with four linemen departing, much
Nittany Lion pudding needs proof. Seniors Snow
and Hunt will steady the backfield, while Williams
and King add speed galore. King goes both ways,
and he will be the centerpiece of PSU’s
revampings in the secondary. Only the LBs return
intact (a good start), though, it is always DL
changes that mean the most in this running conference.
Only one of four return to the trenches to start,
so expect 2005’s consistent penetration
to suffer. Their only break on the schedule is
that Michigan comes to State College. Otherwise,
trips into Ohio State and Notre Dame test the
Lion’s metal early, and Akron to start is
not easy, trust us. If this squad can head into
their slate’s second half with one loss
or less, they could be in Tempe by the New Year.
The ship may be righted, but how far State gets
in ‘06 will lend more clues as to just when/how
Paterno sails into the sunset. If recruits like
these can keep coming…
