QUICK ANALYSIS

Just when some people were ready to throw head coach Ralph Friedgen into the fire simply because his Terrapin team failed to make a bowl appearance the previous two seasons, he rises up from the ashes and puts this team one game away from winning the ACC Atlantic Division. The 2007 version has some very nice talent within every unit. The young receivers found a leader in Heyward-Bay, and the OL is getting stronger each year. The main concern still sits with the QB position, as Jordan Steffy is the only one on the roster to have any college experience, at least in a Maryland uniform. Hopes are that Univ. of Florida transfer Josh Portis is the real deal after earning significant playing time as a true frosh (2005) while in Gainesville (sat out 2006 under NCAA transfer rules). This is the best-looking QB prospect Friedgen has possessed since arriving in College Park six years ago. The DL could use some upgrading, but this should be a very promising season.
