Running
Back |
Georgia has
become accustomed to recruiting
top quality RBs. As just a frosh,
sensation Knowshon Moreno ran
through foes with experienced
blocking FB Brannan Southernland,
giving the Dawgs a balanced
attack. |
|
|
Receiver
/ Offensive Line |
Lacking
from this team currently is
a proven playmaker at the receiver
position for the nation's No.
84 passing offense. The OL started
three freshmen in '07 with some
success. They will need to locate
two more capable youngsters,
especially at center as All-SEC
performer Fernando Velasco moves
on. |

DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic
gauge for listing players that departed and
players that received the most playing experience
(consistent starters). NationalChamps.net
recognizes the importance of missing personnel
data not listed such as redshirts, transfers,
injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and
alternates. Their coverage will begin with
our full 2008 Preseason Preview due out this
coming spring. |

QUICK
ANALYSIS |
Ranked
fourth, how could this team not play for
the BCS title with No.1 and 2 losing the
last week of the 2007 regular season???
The Bulldogs (10-2, 6-2) did as much as
they could just to emerge from their division,
but even their six-game winning streak to
end the regular season wasn’t enough
to earn them due respect from the pollsters/system.
Still, finishing second-best in the SEC
East makes them a top 10 team again going
into ’08, especially with junior-to-be
Stafford finally finding consistency under
offensive mastermind Mark Richt. We feel
what really brought this team back to prominence
was the resurgent running game led by Knowshon
Moreno – as a freshman, he was second
in the league in rushing next to Heisman-bridesmaid
McFadden, and he continues the tradition
here of amazing freshmen RBs. The offensive
line will be young, but the three returning
starters did well as freshmen, themselves,
so the ground game will likely keep UGA
bulldawging ahead. The nation’s No.19
total defense will again have even better
balance than their offensive teammates -
returning 11 with starting experience makes
the upcoming season one that Dawg fans feel
can be special. Away games with Auburn,
South Carolina, LSU and non-con toughie
Arizona State mean Georgia has a long “road”
from Athens to Atlanta (SEC Championship),
though, this team will define its season
in their usual way, within the games versus
the Vols and Gators. This is a team to watch,
one that could be right there come December.
