DEFENSE: Cornelius Washington-DE, Abry Jones-DE, John Jenkins-NT, Michael Gilliard-LB, Christian Robinson-LB, Sanders Commings-CB, Branden Smith-CB, Shawn Williams-SS, Bacarri Rambo-FS, Jarvis Jones-LB (NFL), Alec Ogletree-LB (NFL)
QB Aaron Murray
Linebacker / QB/ RB

Of course this is all based on linebackers Jarvis Jones and Alec Ogletree returning for their senior years...a big if. Aaron Murray is in a position to be the best passing quarterback in the SEC. With a great set of running backs he won't be required to win games on his own. This is essentially the exact same offense.

Secondary

The nation's No. 3 rated pass defense needs to reload. The departed Commings, Williams and Rambo were big time studs. Plenty of depth exists here. The question will be how the replacements react in the spotlight.

* DEPTH CHARTS were only designed as a simplistic gauge for listing players that departed and players that received the most playing experience (consistent starters). NationalChamps.net recognizes the importance of missing personnel data not listed such as redshirts, transfers, injuries, incoming recruits, back ups and alternates. Their coverage will begin with our full 2013 Preseason Preview due out this coming spring.

QUICK TAKES

    12/18/12

  • The Gurshal combo of freshmen at running back between Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall makes Georgia a legit favorite to repeat as SEC East Champs. Both have proven home run capabilities. Also of significance in that equation is the fact every single starting blocker up front will return.
  • Quarterback Aaron Murray has thrown touchdown passes to 10 different receivers. Murray isn't ready for the NFL but he is ready to potentially be the best passing quarterback in the SEC.
  • If the Dawgs can stay healthy at receiver they should be fine here. Tight ends Jay Rome and Arthur Lynch have also become more involved in the passing game and could make a huge difference.
  • These linebackers are stellar even if Jarvis Jones decides to head off for the NFL. What's amazing however is that this was the SEC's 12th rated run defense. Given the experience up front there can be no excuses for such poor statistics again.
  • The good news...this is one of the premier pass defenses. The bad news...the secondary has been gutted by graduation. But there appears to be plenty of depth. While there may be questions here, it won't be a weakness. Damian Swann is a dependable cover corner and a great place to start.
  • With 10 offensive starters set to return the Dawgs have to be considered the preseason favorite in the SEC East. Even if the NFL Draft losses aren't kind to Georgia this will still be the team to beat. Once again the Florida vs. Georgia game in Jacksonville will be the deciding factor as to who wins this race.
