Defense

The entire defense was dominant in 2013 despite the injury setbacks, especially considering the little help their offense was offering. When at full health the Gators have 10 starters coming back along with a boatload of experienced high school top flight prep talent waiting in the wings. This group has all the makings to be the best defense in the SEC. Even with the early departure of cornerback Loucheiz Purifoy and Marcus Roberson, the defensive backfield is loaded. Recruiting has been good for Muschamp on the defensive side.

Offense / Injuries

The offense is another completely different story. The numbers are so poor it's almost too embarrassing to list them. The Gators could neither run nor pass and in the process offensive coordinator Brent Pease was canned after the final game. Yes, it's fair to say that injuries absolutely killed Florida. No team in the country suffered a weekly set back like this team just went through and the offense paid the price. At the same time the top three running backs could start for more than half of the teams across the country. No reason exists as to why they couldn't do more to help this team get enough wins to go bowling. Injuries and scheme were at fault. Hopefully for Gator fans both can be resolved this off-season.
