RB Ameer Abdullah
Running Back / Defensive Front

The one aspect Nebraska has done well for decades is run with the football. With All-American I-Back Ameer Abdullah back in the fold the ground game will continue to be the identity of this offense. Backups Cross and Newby are no slouch either. The Cornhuskers were one of the nation's top pass rushing defenses. They still have to replace full-time starters Jason Ankrah and Thad Randle, but end Randy Gregory heads a line where a multitude of players saw pertinent action. Stuffing the run shouldn't be a problem anymore in Lincoln either.

Passing Game / Offensive Line

The one aspect Nebraska has not done well for decades is throw the football. Quarterback Tommy Armstrong started eight games last fall after Taylor Martinez went down with a foot injury and the passing results weren't so grand. The competition behind center is inexperienced. The one area hit hard by graduation is on the offensive line where only one full-time starter returns. If this unit doesn't produce with new faces it could be a long season.

DE Randy Gregory
