*1 To the best of my knowledge, the logo on this helmet was used only on the right side throughout the 2000 season, with the left side left "blank" (so this rendition is technically incorrect). I cannot say with certainty that this scheme was in place throughout the entire 2000 season, though. The plain black helmets were apparently used throughout 2001, despite the fact that the team had a new logo for that year.
*2 I have seen some pictures of "mini-helmets" for sale representing this helmet with black facemasks, but all of the year 2000 pictures I have seen of ACTUAL game helmets had red facemasks. Does anyone know if this team ever actually used black facemasks during part of the 2000 season?
*3 This design may have been used for the first game or two during the 2001 season, before the team switched to the newer logo.
*4 I received a report in July 2002 that the Memphis Xplorers had switched to a new helmet design during a game against Tennessee Valley; the new design was described as being similar to this design but with a different logo, consisting of just the rider and horse's head portions of the team's then-main logo. I would appreciate some clear photographs of this alleged helmet, as well as specific information about when it was first used.
