During recent years Guelph has used the following sequences of helmet designs:

*1 On both of these designs uniform numbers are worn on the left side only; the right side is "blank".

McMASTER

? - 2005 2006 -

This team had several interesting designs during earlier years for which only partial information has been found; below are photographs of some of these. The 1968 design has what appears to be an "MM" logo, the 1971 design appears to have a "bird head" of some sort, as does the 1972 design.

OTTAWA

c.1960s c.early 1970s c.1970s- 1980s?
'A' 'B'
? - 2008 2009 - 2022 -

In 2022 Ottawa used two of the above helmet designs in the following sequence: A-A-A; B-B-A; B-B-B; B.

Little information has been found for this team's earlier helmet designs but one, used in the early 1970s, had the letters "GG" inside a "horseshoe"-shape (photograph below). No color photographs of this one have been found, but the helmet shell appears to be white. A similar logo may have been worn on silver helmets for a short time. The currently-used horse head logo has apparently been used continuously since the mid-1970s.

During recent years Waterloo has used the following sequences of helmet designs:

*1 During at least some of the years when this design was in use the logo was worn only on the right side of the helmet, with the left side remaining "blank". Waterloo did not play a 2010 football schedule due to repercussions from a steroid abuse scandal involving some members of the team.

WESTERN

'A'
? - 2003 2003 - 2007 2008? -
*see note 1 below
'B' 'C' 'D'
September 29, 2012;
2013 - 2016
2017 - 2019 -

During recent years Western has used the following sequences of helmet designs:

I think this team may have used plain silver helmets for many years in the 1970s-1990s, but at least one great early helmet logo has been found - the one on the 1971 design (photograph below). I have been unable to locate the artwork for this logo; it looks somewhat generic but I am unaware of any other team having used the same logo.

*1 This helmet design was adopted sometime during the 2003 season; the previous design was in use at least as late as the September 13 game against Queen's.

WILFRID LAURIER

c.1971 c.1974 c.1980s
*see note 1 below
'A'
? - 2003 2009 (early season) 2004 -
*see note 2 below
'B' 'C'
2014 - 2016 2017 -

During recent years Laurier has used the following sequences of helmet designs:

*1 The name of the university was Waterloo Lutheran University prior to November 1, 1973.

*2 "Plain" purple helmets were used during the team's first three games of the 2009 season; helmet decals appeared once again for the team's fourth game (september 26 vs McMaster).

*see note 2 below
2018 2019 -

This team which first played in 1969 has used several other interesting helmet designs for which I have only partial information; below are photographs of some of these:

A color photograph of the 1970 design would enable me to add this one to the website. The photograph labeled "1974" was apparently taken during a practice session prior to the 1975 season and shows what is apparently a leftover-from-1974 football-shaped logo commemorating the centennial of Canadian college football; York appears to have used this logo on the right side only of the team's helmets in 1974. I will need a copy of the artwork from the "c.1990s" helmet in order to add this one to the website.

The team nickname was changed from "Yeomen" to "Lions" prior to the 2003 football season.

*1 On both these helmet designs the logo was actually worn on the right side only, with the left side being "blank". I believe that this was the case through least the period from 2000 through 2010.

*2 Used during at least one game in both 2012 and 2014.
