*1 McGill began using a new helmet logo in (apparently) 1980; the helmet design featuring this new logo was used with several different facemasks colors simultaneously during at least the next ten years. Photographs and videos are scarce, of course, but most helmets appear to have white or gray facemasks in 1986 and earlier years. Red facemasks appeared in 1987 and were apparently the most numerous color immediately, though both white and gray also remained in use through at least 1989.

This team played its first season of football in 2002. The university also had a football team from 1966 through 1971.

The Sherbrooke football team began play in 2003 following a thirty-year absence. I have not received any information about the helmet design(s) used during the previous three-year period when Sherbrooke had a football team (1971 through 1973).
