Shorter is a new member of this conference for the 2012 season.

The 1966 Delta State helmet has been described as having a white shell with a "D" logo on the sides. No other historical helmet information has been received for this team.

This school was known as Florence State College from 1957 until 1968, when it was renamed Florence State University. The name was changed to University of North Alabama in 1974.
I would appreciate any information about the team's pre-1977 helmet designs.

Here are descriptions of some earlier VSU helmets provided by site visitor H2F:
- "1982 - Shells were probably black. No logo or stripes were used.
- 1983 - Dark center stripe (probably black) flanked by a light stripe on each side (either white or red). Shells were probably black. A 'V' with a flame extending from its right side was used as a logo.
- 1984 - Shells were probably black with a dark center stripe (probably black) and flanked by either red or white stripes. No logo was used.
- 1985 - I'm still trying to find a decent photo.
- 1986 - Helmet shells were probably black. No stripes. The letters 'VSC' were arched as a logo. That was probably red or white.
- 1987-91 - Hey, some variation! Shells appear to be red. A red or white stripe was in the center and was flanked by a stripe that I heavily believe to be black. Block numbers were on the sides that were lighter than the shells, so I'm pretty positive they were white."
The VsU team first played in 1982. Below is a photograph of another supposed VSU helmet design from an unknown year:

This school was known as Livingston University prior to 1995. I have not received any information about earlier helmet designs for the football team, which dates back to at least 1946.

The first West Georgia football team played in 1981. The helmet design used by the team through most of its first decade featured red helmet shells with white facemasks and with the letters "WG" in white, outlined in blue, on the sides; there was also a white/blue/white stripe sequence. A different logo was used in 1984 only; it has been described by a visitor to this web site as "a smaller scale G sitting on top of the letter W with an Indian spear going from left to right in the middle of the letters". The team nickname was "Braves" prior to the 2006 football season.
*1 This design was in use by at least 1994.
