Three schools which were members of this conference in 2011 - Grand Rapids C.C., Harper College, and Joliet J.C. - have discontinued their football teams since the end of the 2011 season; helmet images for these teams have been moved to the page for "Defunct College Teams".

For the 2012 season Phoenix and Mesa have both returned to designs used in seasons prior to 2011, while New Mexico Military Institute and Snow are using new designs (shown above). Pima has switched to silver helmets with the same "Aztecs" logo as has been used by the team in recent years; the color of both the logo and the facemask cannot be determined from the photographs I have seen.

The photograph below appears to imply that Scottsdale may have added a helmet logo by at least the team's fifth game of the 2012 season (at Snow).

Monroe College is playing its first season of football in 2012.

Arkansas Baptist began using a new helmet logo at some unknown point in 2010 (but at least by the game against Kilgore). The new logo appears to be the letters "ABC" with something (probably a buffalo) beneath the letters (photo below). I would appreciate a better photograph, a copy of the helmet logo, and information about when this design was first used.

*1 During four games in 2011 (September 1 vs Mississippi Gulf Coast, September 8 at Hinds, September 22 vs Itawamba, and October 27 at Holmes) EMCC wore black helmets with a "skull and crossbones" logo on the sides. While I could locate no specific information as to why this was done it was almost certainly a tribute to William "Bull Cyclone" Sullivan, who was head coach at East Mississippi Junior College through most of the 1950s and 1960s. In 1984 Sports Illustrated published a lengthy cover story about Sullivan, who had "skull and crossbones" painted onto his players' helmets during at least part of his career.

All photos that I have seen from subsequent games in 2010 show the team returning to the blue star logo that the team had used in 2009 and earlier.
