This school's name was changed from Houston Baptist University to Houston Christian University on September 21, 2022.
During recent years HCU/HBU has used the following sequences of helmet designs:
- 2022: G-G-H; H-C-H; C-C-C; C-H
- 2021: E-E-G; C-C-C; C-C-G; G-C
- 2020*: G-B-C; B
- 2019: B-A-B; C-B-C; C-B-B; A-C-B
- 2018: A-C-B; B-A-C; C-A-F; B-C
- 2017: B-C-C; A-C-B; A-C-B; F-A
- 2016: B-C-C; D-A-C; A-E-E; F-C
2013 was the first season for the Houston Baptist football team. Helmet design 'A' above was apparently used during all games from 2013 through 2015.
*1 During the November 12, 2016 home game vs Stephen F Austin HBU used five different helmet decals each representing one branch of the military forces of the United States; these were worn on both sides of the helmet, though apparently some helmets had a mismatched pair. These were again worn on November 11, 2017 (vs Lamar) and November 3, 2018 (vs Nicholls). Below are representations of these designs.

- 2022: D-D-D; D-D-D; D-D-F; F-F
- 2021: E-D-D; D-D-D; D-D-F; F ('D' was also used during the September 2 exhibition game against North American University)
- 2020*: C (entire season)
- 2019: B-B-B; B-C-C; C-C-C; C-C-C
- 2018: A-B-B; B-B-C; C-C-C; C-C-C (the last game being an FCS playoff game at Northern Iowa)
Lamar did not have a football team from 1990 through 2009. The name of the school was Lamar State College of Technology prior to 1971; hence the "LT" logo on the 1966-1967 helmet design.
*1 Worn during home games against Sam Houston State and Houston Baptist in 2014.

*1 At least one or two additional helmet design variations were used during the period 1972 - 1986. At some point a white-blue-white stripe sequence was used, and during another unknown period a white outline was present around the horse/rider logo. The facemask color was changed from gray to blue at an unknown time (probably mid-to-late 1970s). Additional information would be appreciated.

This team has a relatively short history (1972 to present) so a complete helmet history could probably be determined fairly easily by someone at the university with access to yearbooks, media guides, etc. The team apparently used red helmets during its first several years. The 1979 helmet is visible in the photograph below; it apparently had a red shell with a white or gray "N", and this photograph appears to show two different facemask colors in use (#74's facemask looks darker than the others). Additional information would be appreciated.
*1 The logo worn on this design is intended to resemble the one worn by the 1971 Nicholls State team, which was apparently a club-level team. A photograph from 1971 published on the football team's twitter account appeared to show a similar logo worn on white helmets, and accompanying text read "inspired by the original helmet decal for Nicholls (1971-1978)". I have not, however, ever seen any photographs from the 1970s showing Nicholls using this oval-shaped logo - I would greatly appreciate any such photographs. The university unfortunately has not yet digitized and published its old yearbooks and media guides, as many other teams have done, so information is scarce for this team prior to 1980. The few photographs I have managed to find show the team wearing plain red helmets during the 1970s.

During recent years Texas A&M-Commerce has used the following sequences of helmet designs:
- 2022: A-A-A; A-B-B; B1-B1-C; C-C
- 2021: A-A-A; A-B-B; B-B-B; A-A
- 2020: [no schedule played]
- 2019: A-A-A; A-B-B; B-A-A; A-A-A; A
This university was named East Texas State University prior to September 1, 1996, hence the "ET" logos on the earlier helmet designs. Prior to 2021 the team had competed at the NCAA Division II level and had been a member of the Lone Star Conference since 1931.
*1 This design has uniform numerals on its left side only; on the right side is a "lion head" logo like that worn on both sides of the previous design.
*2 Design 'B' has the lion logo on both sides; 'B1' has it on the left side only, while on the right side is the same '903' logo worn on the left side of design 'C'.
*3 The '903' logo (apparently in reference to a local telephone area code) is worn on the left side only of this design; on the right side is the same logo worn on both sides of design 'A'.
