World Football League (1974-1975)

BIRMINGHAM AMERICANS / BIRMINGHAM VULCANS

BIRMINGHAM AMERICANS BIRMINGHAM VULCANS

This franchise is credited with both of the WFL's championships - the Americans won "World Bowl I" against Florida at the end of the 1974 season, and when the league folded in 1975, were named league champions by virtue of having the best record at the time.

CHICAGO WINDS

1975

This team lasted for only five games in 1975. Apparently two helmet designs were used by the team - initially the one shown above, and later, one with a different logo (apparently a white "W" in front of a green oval- or football-shape). I do not know for how many games each helmet design was used.

DETROIT WHEELS

1974

This team folded after playing fourteen games in 1974.
