During recent years Angelo State has used the following sequences of helmet designs:

CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

? - 2003 2004 - 2006 2007 - 2011
2012 - 2013 2014 - 2016 2017

*2 This design has the "wildcat" logo on its left side only; uniform numbers are worn on the right side (as represented below).

EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY

2015 - 2019 2021 - 2024 -
*see note 1 below

This team has existed for the entire period covered by this website (1960 to present) but I have not received any information regarding designs used by the team prior to 1999.

*1 Uniform numbers are worn on the left side only of this design; a "greyhound head" logo is worn on the right side (as depicted below).

MIDWESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY

1988 - 1994 1995 1996 - 1997
1998 1999 - 2001 2002 - 2005
2006 - 2024 -

During at least three games in 2017 (October 21 vs West Texas A&M, October 28 at UTPB, and November 4 vs Tarleton State) Midwestern State replaced the "MSU" logo on the right side of each helmet with a "spear" logo like the one worn on both sides of the helmet from 2002 through 2005, The "MSU" logo was worn on both sides of the helmet during all other games in 2017 with the possible exception of game #9 (November 11 at Eastern New Mexico); no photographs or video have been located from this game.

The above are all of the helmet designs used by Midwestern State since the team was established in 1988; the school had a football team during an earlier period which last played in 1956.

SUL ROSS STATE UNIVERSITY

1960 - 1971 1973 - 1975 1976 - 1977

2000 - 2002 2003 - 2007 2008
2009 2010 2011 - 2012
2013 - 2014 2015 - 2016 2017 -
2020* - 2022 -

The two "known" "missing" helmet designs for this team for the period covered by this website are the 1992 and 2000-2002 designs; below are photographs of these.

The 1992 helmet was red with a "wolf head" logo that I think was entirely white; I have been unable to locate the artwork for the logo or any photographs better than the one above.

From (I think) 2000 through 2002 another "wolf head" was used; this one was worn on silver helmets and contained at least two colors (red and white). It had been reported to me that this logo was identical to one previously used by the University of New Mexico, but it appears to me that it is substantially different. Clearer photographs would be appreciated.

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-KINGSVILLE

UTPB played its first season of football in 2016; the team has used the following sequences of helmet designs:

*1 Uniform numbers are worn on both sides of design 'I'; they are worn on the left side only of 'I1', while a logo adorns the right side (as depicted below).

This school was named West Texas State University prior to June 1, 1993. The football team participated in the Division I Missouri Valley Conference through 1985 before moving to Division II and joining the Lone Star Conference the following year. WTSU did not field a team in 1991.

Information about this team for the years prior to 1985 is very scarce, but I have received partial information about two other designs used by West Texas State / West Texas A&M:

WESTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY

1965 - ? c.1970s ? - 1989
1990 - ? 2000? - 2008 2009 - 2010
2011 2012 - 2013 2014
2015 - 2021 -

Western Oregon University was previously named Oregon College of Education (from 1939 to 1981) and Western Oregon State College (from 1981 to 1997).

WOU apparently used several different helmet designs during the second half of the 1990s. During 1999, red helmets were used with the team name "Wolves" in white on the side, possibly with a picture of a wolf's head, also (the lettering may have been similar or identical to the 2009-2010 helmet logo). The 1998 design was apparently very similar to the "2000? - 2008" design shown above.
