*1 In 2018 the number 40 was worn on the left side of each helmet in memory of team member Sean Giles Jr, who died on September 4; 40 had been his uniform number. On the right side was a large "hammer" logo (as depicted below). Based on a single photograph from the team's first game of the 2018 season (September 1 vs NDSCS) it would appear that the left side of the helmet was "blank" during that game, with the hammer logo present on the right side.
