The
Aggies
may
be the
nation's
biggest
mystery
team
after
a ridiculous
soft
schedule
left
them
as one
of the
only
teams
that
has
yet
to be
on national
television.
Quarterback
Jerrod
Johnson
was
a Heisman
Hopeful
but
seems
to still
have
lingering
problems
from
off-season
shoulder
surgery.
He threw
four
interceptions
during
a span
of eight
passes
against
Florida
International.
If it
were
not
for
a late
charge
they
would
have
lost
this
game.
Running
back
Christine
Michael
has
been
carrying
some
of the
load
with
three
consecutive
100
yard
rushing
games.
The
offensive
line
however
has
been
struggling
against
inferior
competition.
The
defense
has
been
the
big
surprise
as coordinator
Tim
DeRuyter
has
made
a remarkable
turnaround
with
this
group.
Okie
State
is ranked
second
nationally
in total
offense
during
their
3-0
early
start.
Running
back
Kendall
Hunter,
who
ranks
first
in the
Big
12 in
all-purpose
yards,
has
been
tough
to contain
and
that
has
made
it possible
for
quarterback
Brandon
Weeden
to get
the
passing
attack
working.
They
will
get
a variety
of blitzes
from
Texas
A&M.
2009
national
sack
leader
Von
Miller
has
yet
to record
a sack
and
should
be hungry.
The
thought
of A&M
actually
being
one
of the
league's
better
defenses
is a
shocker,
but
they
have
not
played
anyone
yet.
The
home
field
edge
in Stillwater
should
be big
as this
game
is a
tight
match
up on
paper.
The
outcome
boils
down
to just
how
much
better
play
they
can
get
out
of quarterback
Jerrod
Johnson.
The
OSU
defense
is very
inexperienced
and
this
could
be the
opening
the
Aggies
and
Jerrod
Johnson
have
been
looking
for.
This
one’s
a barnburner.

The
Hurricane
defense
has
really
stepped
up to
the
plate.
They
are
currently
ranked
No.
1 in
the
country
in tackles
for
loss
and
No.
2 in
sacks.
They
completely
dominated
the
Pittsburgh
running
game
last
week.
The
reason
is due
to the
fact
that
this
defensive
line
is deep.
They
can
rotate
many
bodies
without
losing
talent.
The
secondary
too
has
made
some
changes
under
head
coach
Randy
Shannon
that
helped
to shut
down
All-American
receiver
Jonathan
Baldwin
last
Thursday.
The
run
defense
gets
tested
again
this
week
as the
Tigers
strategy
to replace
star
C.J.
Spiller
by committee
has
worked
well.
Both
Andre
Ellington
and
Jamie
Harper
have
combined
for
a 5.8
average
per
carry
which
is second
best
in the
ACC.
Quarterback
Kyle
Parker
has
displayed
a rocket
arm
which
helps
keep
defenses
from
crowding
the
box.
Clemson
has
shown
problems
in the
secondary
where
big
plays/deep
passes
are
killing
this
team.
Expect
Miami
quarterback
Jacory
Harris
to try
and
take
advantage
of this
situation.
However,
the
jump
ball
type
of pass
has
haunted
Harris,
while
the
interception
bug
continues
to haunt
his
over-hyped
young
career.
He will
have
to keep
an eye
on the
pass
rush
too
with
defensive
end
Da'Quan
Bowers
continuing
to wreak
havoc
with
opposing
offenses.
Clemson
won't
win
this
game
running
with
the
football
like
they
have
so far.
Kyle
Parker
will
be called
upon
to do
more
against
this
aggressive
Miami
defense.
The
Canes
should
be up
to the
challenge
on this
side
of the
ball.
This
one
is so
very
hard
to predict,
especially
with
the
turnover
factors.
Miami
keeps
scoring
in the
return
game
to make
a difference.

Air
Force
33 Navy
27
Let
the
quest
for
the
annual
Commander-In-Chief's
Trophy
begin.
Navy
has
won
the
last
eight
and
has
beaten
Air
Force
the
last
seven
times.
Navy
has
recently
unveiled
a new
weapon
called
Ricky
Dobb's
arm.
Playing
with
ankle
and
groin
problems,
the
senior
used
the
passing
game
to pull
out
a win
over
Louisiana
Tech
in their
last
outing.
The
bye
week
was
much
needed
for
Navy
too
going
into
this
game
due
to the
injuries.
But
the
offense
in Annapolis
has
been
spotty.
The
run
game
is solid
led
by fullback
Vince
Murray,
but
it's
not
been
dominating
like
it has
in the
past.
Dobbs
isn't
putting
up numbers
that
some
hinted
would
get
him
into
a limited
Heisman
race.
Air
Force
on the
other
hand
has
taken
over
where
Navy
left
off.
The
Falcons
have
run
the
option,
which
features
more
passing
than
the
one
Navy
uses,
to the
tune
of 394
yards
per
game
and
presents
a real
challenge
to a
Navy
defense
ranked
just
77th
in the
country
against
the
run.
The
Falcons
have
a solid
fullback
of their
own
in Jared
Tew.
His
toughness
has
set
the
tone
for
the
offense.
The
Falcon
pass
defense
has
been
superb
but
run
defense
has
been
suspect
however
and
that
is what
Navy
will
attack
per
usual.
Otherwise
this
shapes
up to
be a
huge
win
for
Air
Force.
The
game
is in
the
high
altitudes
of Colorado.
There
is an
overwhelming
desire
to finally
beat
the
rival
Midshipmen
and
this
time
the
home
crowd
is really
expecting
to finally
get
it done.
Air
Force
has
been
challenged
by BYU
and
Oklahoma
and
responded
in grand
fashion.
The
time
has
come.

Are
the
Hokies
over
the
early
season
let
downs?
They
seemed
to be
last
week
in shutting
out
Boston
College
19-0.
It was
the
first
shutout
for
the
Hokie
defense
in 45
games
and
could
not
have
come
at a
better
time
considering
the
question
marks
on this
side
of the
ball
thus
far.
They
racked
up a
half-dozen
sacks
against
one
of the
ACC's
better
offensive
lines.
They
stopped
the
run
and
also
were
forcing
turnovers.
Quarterback
Tyrod
Taylor
continued
to improve
his
accuracy
and
cut
his
miscues
back
big
time.
Tailback
Ryan
Williams
is sitting
with
a bad
hamstring.
His
status
is still
unknown.
The
September
talk
of the
ACC
is now
the
Wolfpack
who
are
off
to a
fantastic
4-0
start.
There's
no mystery
why
this
is the
case...this
is the
first
Wolfpack
team
under
Coach
O'Brien's
watch
that
can
be carried
on any
given
day
by either
the
offense
or the
defense.
If the
award
for
ACC
Player
of The
Year
were
handed
out
today,
quarterback
Russell
Wilson
gets
it.
He has
shaken
off
the
rust
of a
summer
baseball
contract
and
is throwing
all
over
defenses,
including
a career
high
368
passing
yards
against
Georgia
Tech
last
week.
The
defense
has
been
the
big
surprise.
Overwhelmed
the
last
three
years
by quality
offenses
they
held
a potent
Tech
defense
to just
27 yards
through
the
first
three
quarters.
Discipline
has
been
the
cry
and
NC State
is now
the
least
penalized
team
in the
ACC.
This
is their
biggest
challenge
thus
far
however.
The
Hokies
cannot
afford
another
loss.
This
could
be the
most
important
home
game
in quite
some
time
for
Raleigh.
They
won't
disappoint.

Call
it an
early
season
make-or-break
game,
but
these
two
4-0
teams
have
hit
their
first
big
conference
tilt
that
will
go far
into
the
season
into
determining
bowl
position.
For
Wisconsin,
their
story
has
been
John
Clay,
last
year's
Big
Ten
Offensive
Player
of The
Year.
He rushed
for
his
10th
consecutive
100-yard
game
last
week
and
senior
quarterback
Scott
Tolzien
is proving
to be
the
efficient
type
of passer
the
Badgers
need
to keep
on the
winning
track.
This
offense
finished
with
618
total
yards
against
outmanned
Austin
Peay
last
week.
The
big
injury
note
for
this
week
is whether
or not
starting
receivers
Nick
Toon
(turf
toe)
and
David
Gilreath
(concussion)
can
finally
return.
Both
should
be available.
The
Spartans
can
counter
with
their
own
Big
Ten
Defensive
Player
of The
Year
in linebacker
Greg
Jones
who
has
been
nothing
short
of remarkable
so far
this
season.
This
is a
great
run
defense.
Both
corners
Chris
L. Rucker
and
Johnny
Adams
are
also
playing
at a
high
level
but
the
secondary
as a
whole
has
been
getting
torched.
Offensively,
the
Spartans
have
started
the
season
with
four
straight
200-yard
rushing
games,
after
reaching
200
just
once
last
season.
What
a turn
around.
Junior
quarterback
Kirk
Cousins
hasn't
been
very
sharp
though
and
that
can
make
MSU
one-dimensional
in a
game
like
this.
Wisconsin
is the
better-rounded
ball
club.
Look
for
a ton
of handoffs
in this
one
Big
Ten
style.
Low
scoring
where
the
better
quarterback
and
defense
wins.

by 7,

by 7
and
Cincinnati
by 2.
Offense
has
not
been
a problem.
Receiver
Ryan
Broyles
continues
to put
up eye-popping
numbers
along
with
Kenny
Stills
and
Cameron
Kenney
also
running
routes.
Sophomore
quarterback
Landry
Jones
has
proven
more
than
efficient
in a
big
game.
Running
back
DeMarco
Murray
gives
them
the
wheels
in the
run
game.
Plain
and
simple,
the
defense
is killing
this
team
despite
a bevy
of star
players
full
of preseason
and
recruiting
hype.
Giving
up 458
yards
Air
Force
was
one
thing
with
the
unique
style
the
Falcons
ran,
but
Cincinnati
last
week
blistered
this
group
for
461
yards
running
and
throwing.
This
could
be the
break
the
Texas
offense
has
been
looking
for
as coach
Mack
Brown's
offense
is still
trying
to find
itself.
The
huge
upset
loss
to UCLA
at home
really
emphasized
some
of the
weakness
in this
Longhorn
program.
The
running
game
by committee
is still
lacking
a big
time
player
to count
on.
Quarterback
Garrett
Gilbert
still
cannot
connect
on the
deeper
routes.
The
defense
is getting
worn
out
in the
fourth
quarter.
How
Texas
responds
to the
upset
is the
big
key.
Mack
Brown's
teams
traditionally
bounce
back
strongly
as they've
lost
consecutive
games
only
four
times
in his
13-season
tenure.
But
this
might
be the
toughest
stretch
the
Longhorns
have
faced
in a
long
time.
Considering
upcoming
games
against
Oklahoma
and
Nebraska,
it's
not
inconceivable
that
the
UCLA
loss
could
boomerang
into
the
first
three-game
regular-season
losing
streak
since
John
Mackovic
was
coaching
them.
This
fast-paced
NASCAR
offense
OU utilizes
will
be tough
to keep
up with.
The
Sooners
have
played
up or
down
to every
opponent.
Expect
nothing
different
in the
Red
River
Rivalry
at the
ole
Cotton
Bowl.

managed
just
88 total
yards
after
halftime
against
a UAB
team
that
was
allowing
more
than
400
yards
per
game.
But
the
Vols
managed
to elude
an upset
because
Blazers
kicker
missed
five
field
goals.
They
got
whipped
at every
position
across
the
board.
JUCO
transfer
quarterback
Matt
Simms
is still
trying
to learn
this
offense
on the
fly
while
his
offensive
line
with
three
freshman
are
getting
hammered.
If his
running
game
doesn't
work,
neither
does
he.
Obviously,
injuries
are
hampering
this
team
to an
extreme.
Nine
projected
starters
were
out
by the
end
of Saturday's
game,
including
leading
rusher
Tauren
Poole
and
top
cornerback
Art
Evans.
Depth
has
killed
the
defense
and
the
secondary
has
been
toast.
The
only
good
news
is that
LSU
quarterback
Jordan
Jefferson
has
been
atrocious.
His
passing
numbers
are
good
for
115th
nationally
and
dead
last
in the
SEC.
The
passing
attack
needs
an upgrade.
Expect
back
up Jarrett
Lee
to continue
getting
more
reps
off
the
bench.
LSU
is undefeated
because
of defense,
Patrick
Peterson
returning
punts
and
the
best
kicker
in the
SEC
in senior
Josh
Jasper.
Tennessee
has
no answer
when
they
get
the
football,
which
makes
this
Baton
Rouge
ride
very
bumpy.
A lack
of offense
by the
Tigers
is the
only
thing
that
keeps
this
one
from
getting
ugly. |

Head
coach
Jim
Harbaugh
has
turned
this
Stanford
program
around
in a
big
way.
In short,
the
Cardinal
is 4-0
for
the
first
time
since
1986
and
this
task
has
not
been
completed
while
playing
cupcakes.
They
are
getting
it done
in all
phases
of the
game.
Quarterback
Andrew
Luck
is working
his
way
into
the
thick
of the
Heisman
race.
The
backfield
has
settled
in with
Stepfan
Taylor
as the
premier
ball
carrier
taking
over
for
the
departed
Toby
Gerhart.
The
offensive
line
play
has
been
stellar.
Most
important
has
been
the
resurrection
of the
defense.
The
pass
rush
is changing
the
way
opposing
quarterbacks
perform
as Notre
Dame
quarterback
Dayne
Crist
sorely
found
out
last
Saturday
while
getting
sacked
and
hurried
on multiple
occasions.
Oregon
has
been
putting
up some
hefty
performances
too,
which
makes
this
conference
tussle
a granddaddy
in the
race
for
the
Rose
Bowl
bid.
The
Ducks
have
won
their
first
three
games
by a
combined
189-13
score
and
continue
to lead
the
nation
in scoring.
Quarterback
Darron
Thomas
has
not
been
lights
out,
but
has
exceeded
his
expectations
as a
first
year
starter.
What
makes
this
offense
excel
is the
quick
strike
capability
they
have
in the
running
game
with
LaMichael
James.
They
did
give
us a
ton
of passing
yards
(387)
last
week
at Arizona
State
and
up next
is a
much
better
passer
in Andrew
Luck.
This
will
be an
area
to keep
an eye
on.
It's
a shame
this
game
has
to go
head-to-head
with
Alabama
and
Florida
at 8:00
pm ET.
This
one
deserves
a prime
time
slot
all
by itself.
Autzen
Stadium
is a
brutal
place
to win.
That's
enough.
But
Stanford
can
win

This
is the
game
of the
century
for
2010,
although
the
two
will
likely
wind
up meeting
again
in Atlanta
for
the
SEC
Championship
Game.
The
Gators
continue
to get
it done
with
defense.
Their
12 interceptions
are
tops
in the
NCAA.
Three
have
been
returned
for
touchdowns.
The
run
defense
too
has
been
extremely
stout.
This
defense
is deeper
and
more
experienced
than
what
Alabama
will
field
but
the
talent
levels
with
the
initial
starters
are
very
similar.
Crimson
Tide
quarterback
Greg
McElroy
was
uncharacteristically
wild
last
week
at Arkansas
tossing
two
interceptions.
He needs
to be
careful;
as this
secondary
he is
about
to face
is heads
above
anything
else
he has
seen
this
year.
What
Alabama
does
when
things
get
tight
is turn
to their
Heisman
running
back
Mark
Ingram,
most
of the
time
while
taking
a direct
snap
out
of the
Wildcat
formation.
What
a great
match
up to
watch.
The
Gators
solved
most
of their
offensive
problems
last
week
versus
Kentucky.
Quarterback
John
Brantley
passed
for
more
than
200
yards
for
the
first
time.
They
found
a new
weapon
in QB/WR
Trey
Burton
who
recorded
a school
record
six
touchdowns
in that
game.
The
big
news
is that
running
back
Jeff
Demps,
who
has
bailed
this
offense
out
on a
few
occasions
this
September,
has
aggravated
a foot
bruise
that
seems
to have
hampered
his
effectiveness.
He is
one
of the
top
three
rushers
in the
SEC.
The
young
Alabama
secondary
proved
it could
play
against
top
NFL
prospect
Ryan
Mallett
picking
him
off
three
times
in crucial
situations.
Brantley
is no
Mallett
yet.
This
one
looks
like
a possible
defensive
struggle
with
both
teams
playing
solid
on this
side.
It's
the
Alabama
offense
that
gives
the
home
team
Tide
the
edge.

Running
back
Evan
Royster
finally
found
some
daylight
running
with
the
ball
against
a fairly
sturdy
Temple
defensive
front
last
week
as the
Nittany
Lion
senior
posted
a career
high
187
yards.
The
inability
to run
with
the
ball
prior
to that
was
making
life
difficult
for
true
freshman
quarterback
Rob
Bolden.
He gets
rid
of the
ball
quickly
and
has
shown
more
than
enough
ability
to stretch
the
field,
which
will
be important
against
Iowa's
beast
of a
defensive
line.
The
Hawkeyes
get
an advantage
here,
as Penn
State
is still
a little
unsettled
with
their
blockers.
Defensive
tackle
Mike
Daniels
has
really
elevated
this
line
of scrimmage
while
All-American
end
Adrian
Clayborn
has
yet
to record
a sack.
The
Nittany
Lions
rank
first
in the
Big
Ten
in defending
the
pass.
Iowa
quarterback
Ricky
Stanzi
won't
light
this
group
up but
he has
been
very
efficient
tossing
nine
touchdowns
to only
one
interception.
There
is good
balance
on this
Hawkeye
offense.
While
Adam
Robinson
continues
to impress
out
of the
backfield,
Derrell
Johnson-Koulianos
continues
to make
big
catches.
Penn
State
won't
fare
too
well
this
year
when
the
opposing
defense
is of
better
quality.
That
is what
makes
the
Hawkeyes
a favorite
to keep
on pushing
Ohio
State
and
Wisconsin
as the
favorite
in the
Big
Ten. |
