The
Razorbacks
have
assembled
one
of the
best
passing
attacks
in the
county
in this
the
third
year
under
head
coach
Bobby
Petrino's
direction.
QB Ryan
Mallett
is humming
and
has
an incredible
strong
set
of receivers.
TE D.J.
Williams
is one
of the
better
tight
ends
on a
national
level,
but
it is
receiver
Greg
Childs
that
has
become
impossible
to cover.
Mallett
threw
for
over
400
yards
last
week
against
Louisiana-Monroe
and
the
running
backs
have
been
needed
and
used
very
little.
That
has
to change
some
this
week
as Georgia
has
been
performing
well
defending
the
pass.
The
Dawgs
have
been
able
to generate
pressure
with
LB Justin
Houston
and
the
rest
of their
front,
which
is likely
to keep
this
game
close.
Georgia
will
have
to score
points
this
week
though.
Another
six-point
outing
won't
get
it done.
Redshirt
freshman
QB Aaron
Murray
has
been
fairly
efficient
and
has
not
been
turning
the
ball
over
but
he isn't
striking
fear
in the
defenses
he has
faced
while
missing
his
receivers
on an
occasion.
Arkansas
gets
welcomed
to the
SEC
this
week.
They
face
Alabama,
Texas
A&M
and
Auburn
over
the
next
three
weeks.
This
one
is crucial
to prove
early
they
belong
in remote
SEC
Championship
discussion.
Arkansas
has
been
playing
steady
defense
to the
surprise
of many
but
that
has
been
versus
inferior
competition
the
first
two
weeks.
The
Bulldogs
match
up well
here
and
some
home
cooking
could
keep
them
in a
position
to win
down
the
stretch. |

Yes,
WVU
has
some
quality
offensive
talent
just
like
many
years
gone
by.
Defense
however,
is what
may
be their
strong
suite.
This
will
be the
toughest
defense
Maryland
has
seen
thus
far
by a
landslide.
It's
tough
to judge
how
much
improved
the
Terrapin
blockers
have
been
against
the
inferior
defenses
they
have
faced.
Running
backs
DaRel
Scott
and
Davin
Meggett
have
looked
good
taking
carries.
The
Terps
may
be using
a two-quarterback
system
now.
When
they
wish
to throw
they
likely
will
turn
to redshirt
freshman
pocket
passer
Danny
O'Brien,
who
had
a big
game
last
week
against
Morgan
State.
Jamarr
Robinson
is still
the
starter
but
hasn't
shown
much
of anything
in the
area
of passing.
But
he sure
will
be in
there
for
those
quarterback
draws.
When
WVU
has
the
ball,
this
is the
Noel
Devine
show.
Running
or catching,
the
senior
is proving
to be
the
best
of the
Big
East.
Without
Devine,
they
lose
that
game
to Marshall
last
week.
Young
QB Geno
Smith
grew
up quickly
in the
remarkable
come
from
behind
effort
on the
road.
He won't
get
much
pressure
from
this
Maryland
front
but
the
talent
in the
UM secondary
will
make
the
chores
a little
more
difficult
for
these
highly
productive
Mountaineer
receivers.
The
two
teams
just
signed
a new
series
through
2017
after
Maryland
dropped
this
rivalry
off
the
schedule
the
past
two
years.
Morgantown
will
be wired
and
the
Terps
have
not
been
capable
of slowing
down
this
offense
in recent
years.
At least
the
confidence
factor
with
Maryland
being
2-0
gives
them
a slight
boost
to keep
this
closer
than
recent
results
have
shown,
but
it won't
be enough. |

Much
like
the
rest
of the
ACC,
Georgia
Tech
stumbled
last
week
in an
upset
loss
to Kansas.
The
defense
is missing
way
too
many
tackles
and
getting
blocked
frequently.
Continuing
on the
negative
side,
the
passing
game
is a
mess.
The
Yellow
Jackets
are
7 of
23 this
season
and
the
receivers
have
dropped
a ton
of balls.
The
triple
option
attack
continues
to be
successful
though.
The
Jackets
are
stacked
in the
backfield.
QB Joshua
Nesbit
and
A-back
Anthony
Allen
will
give
any
defense
problems
including
the
Heels
who
are
without
defensive
line
coach
John
Blake
since
his
resignation
after
the
opener
versus
LSU.
Carolina
led
the
league
with
five
players
selected
on the
preseason
All-ACC
team.
Only
one,
LB Quan
Sturdivant
has
been
able
to play
due
to off-the-field
NCAA
investigations.
Senior
quarterback
T.J.
Yates
answered
critics
in his
2010
debut
throwing
for
412
yards
and
no interceptions
in a
loss.
Not
bad
either
for
a team
that
has
shown
no evidence
of a
running
game.
This
early
ACC
match
up will
begin
the
process
of sorting
out
the
contenders
in the
Coastal
Division.
Last
season,
the
Yellow
Jackets
were
coming
off
a big
loss
at Miami
and
dominated
the
Tar
Heels,
then
went
on to
win
the
division
title.
This
loss
put
the
Heels
in a
skid
that
saw
them
lose
three
of their
next
four
games.
They
could
not
stop
the
run,
not
many
do against
Tech
and
this
one
won't
be any
different
with
all
the
UNC
defensive
stars
still
out. |

Wisconsin
34 Arizona

After
searching
for
a quarterback
through
the
spring
and
fall
camp,
Arizona
State
looks
settled
at the
position
through
its
first
two
games.
Michigan
transfer
Steven
Threet
hasn't
been
perfect
against
two
lower-division
teams,
throwing
two
interceptions
Saturday
against
Northern
Arizona,
but
he has
shown
plenty
of potential
in ASU's
new
spread
offense.
The
receivers
are
getting
into
the
act
on offense
and
have
been
bolstered
by the
play
of JUCO
transfer
Mike
Willie,
who
caught
eight
passes
last
week,
all
for
first
downs.
The
offensive
line
continues
to be
discouraging
and
it has
hampered
the
running
game
efforts.
If the
Sun
Devils
can't
get
a push
versus
FCS
opponents,
don't
expect
one
at all
against
the
Badgers.
This
could
force
Arizona
State
to be
pass
dominant,
which
doesn't
fit
Threet's
ability.
Wisconsin's
rush
defense
led
by defensive
end
J.J.
Watt
continues
to be
stifling
while
Big
Ten
rushing
champ
John
Clay
has
put
up eight
consecutive
100-yard
games.
That
is called
winning
games
Big
Ten
style.
Senior
QB Scott
Tolzien
has
been
adequate
but
he likely
gets
top
pass-catcher
Nick
Toon
back
this
week
after
sitting
with
turf
toe.
All
this
spells
trouble
for
the
Sun
Devils
who
don't
play
great
power
defense
and
struggle
to run
with
the
football. |

The
Huskers
are
creeping
up the
charts
by using
stellar
pass
defense,
big
plays
on offense
and
by playing
an embarrassing
weak
non-conference
schedule.
How
good
is the
defense?
Seven
sacks.
Five
interceptions.
Two
defensive
touchdowns.
This
all
came
against
Idaho
quarterback
Nathan
Enderle,
who's
thrown
for
more
than
7,000
career
yards
and
is regarded
as an
NFL
prospect.
The
sterling
secondary
has
numerous
talents.
DeJon
Gomes
is one
of them
and
has
had
a hand
in nine
turnovers
in the
Huskers
last
12 games.
The
pass
rush
has
been
relentless.
Tackle
Jared
Crick
continues
to wreak
havoc
the
same
way
the
departed
Ndamakong
Suh
did.
Offensively,
redshirt
freshman
Taylor
Martinez
has
taken
over
behind
center
and
has
earned
much
of the
early
highlights.
Like
many
Husker
teams
of the
past,
they
live
on running
with
the
football.
RB Roy
Helu
is looking
strong
and
healthy
after
shoulder
problems
plagued
him
his
junior
season.
For
Washington,
the
best
player
through
two
games
has
been
receiver
Jermaine
Kearse.
Devin
Aguilar
is turning
into
a solid
compliment.
UW's
receiving
corps
indeed
looks
like
one
of the
best
in the
Pac
Ten
but
it probably
gets
subdued
this
week
against
this
Husker
secondary.
QB Jake
Locker
shook
off
a shaky
start
to rebound
and
look
good
in defeating
Syracuse
last
week.
The
biggest
issue
for
Washington
is in
the
secondary.
This
will
certainly
be a
stiffer
test
for
Nebraska
since
Seattle
is no
easy
place
to visit.
But
the
Huskers
defense
will
give
Locker
and
the
Huskies
fits.
The
opposite
is not
true
when
Nebraska
has
the
ball,
which
spells
a Big
Red
victory. |

For
the

Florida
had
an outstanding
performance
from
its
secondary.
Senior
strong
safety
Ahmad
Black
had
two
interceptions
and
a team-high
eight
tackles.
Cornerback
Janoris
Jenkins
also
had
an interception
for
the
second
straight
week.
Passing
teams
don't
stand
a chance
versus
Florida.
So expect
to see
Tennessee
continue
to hand
the
ball
off
to tailback
Tauren
Poole
who
finished
with
a career
high
162
yards
last
week
versus
Oregon.
The
hopes
will
be to
slow
down
the
tempo
of the
game.
Without
a quarterback
threat,
this
task
becomes
very
difficult.
Florida
got
things
turned
around
last
week
offensively
by not
turning
the
ball
over
and
by continuing
to give
running
back
Jeff
Demps
the
ball.
Demps
is the
fastest
ball
carrier
in the
country
and
is lighting
up the
stats
book
running,
receiving
and
returning
kickoffs.
A series
of injuries
and
defections
has
left
the
Volunteers
a depth-shy
team
and
that
is not
good
in SEC
play.
This
one
spells
a blow
out
at Neyland
Stadium
for
the
second
week
in a
row.
No one
expects
Tennessee
to win
these
types
of games,
but
another
large
margin
blasting
in Knoxville
can’t
be good.
And
the
fans
begin
to get
restless
on ole

45 Air
Force
28
Air
Force's
strengths
before
the
season
were
well
known:
a lot
of running
backs,
a quarterback
entering
his
third
year
as a
starter,
and
a secondary
that
had
two
first-team
preseason
all-Mountain
West
cornerbacks.
But
the
biggest
question
was
the
offensive
line,
and
that
unit
played
very
well
against
BYU.
The
line
is doing
a good
job
getting
to the
second
level
-- a
must
in Air
Force's
running
system
-- and
has
now
paved
the
way
for
back-to-back
400-yard
rushing
games
for
the
team.
RB Asher
Clark
has
the
look
of someone
who
could
finish
with
a big
statistical
season.
The
Falcons
defense
baffled
inexperienced
BYU
quarterbacks
last
week
big
time.
The
test
gets
way
more
difficult
this
week
with
the
Sooners'
Landry
Jones
coming
off
a blistering
performance
versus
Florida
State.
The
Sooners
are
loaded
offensively.
Running
back
DeMarco
Murray
has
a legit
chance
at winning
the
Heisman.
This
NASCAR
quick-strike
no-huddle
offense
has
been
unstoppable
thus
far.
Air
Force
might
be playing
solid
defense
but
it should
be no
contest
this
Saturday
when
OU has
the
ball.
On the
other
side,
Air
Force
does
have
a chance
given
the
offensive
system
they
utilize.
The
Sooners
rebounded
last
week
defensively
but
now
has
a different
kind
of challenge
that
will
require
discipline.
Air
Force
has
a chance
to make
this
interesting,
but
there
is just
way
too
much
offense
on the
other
side. |

a passing
game.
They
hit
their
lowest
total
since
2003
last
week
against
Air

88 yards.
The
Cougars
are
young
and
the
lingering
quarterback

could
make
this
one
of Coach
Mendenhall's
longest
years
if they
don't
find
answers
quickly.
The
defense
got
exposed
against
the
Falcon

While
FSU
won't
run
the
same
system,
they
have
massive
offensive

This
is the
same
exact
group
that
lit
up BYU
last
year
in Provo
to secure
the
Seminoles

of 2009.
The

is still
what
holds

is one
of the
worst
in the
ACC
and
the
secondary
looks
lost
trying
to pick
up the

The

too
has

big

Easy

this
Saturday,

before

While
Auburn

Top

not
many

talking
Clemson
football
in the
same
regards.
The
ESPN
GameDay
crew
will
be on
hand
and
one
thing
the
nation
will
notice
is that
Clemson
is stacked
at running
back.
Jamie
Harper
and
Andre
Ellington
have
not
missed
a beat
without
C.J.
Spiller
in the
lineup.
This
has
been
a quick
strike
offense
the
first
two
weeks,
which
is not
much
different
than
their
counterpart
with
Cam
Newton
under
center
for
Auburn.
Although
the
Auburn
offense
didn't
exactly
step
up to
the
plate
in the
Thursday
spotlight
against
Mississippi
State
last
week,
all
three
scoring
drives
were
still
under
three
minutes.
The
defensive
line
is starting
to step
up for
Auburn
led
by Nick
Fairley
and
Antoine
Carter.
This
week
Clemson
welcomes
back
two
of their
premier
defensive
players
in LB
Brandon
Maye
and
DT Jarvis
Jenkins.
So expect
a little
more
defense
than
usual
when
these
two
square
off.
Home
field
advantage
is big
here.
Auburn
has
already
been
tested
while
Clemson
has
not.
All
signs
point
to a
Tiger
victory,
but
which
Tiger?
This
one
goes
to the
wire
in favor
of the
home
team.
A few
turnovers
and
breaks
and

Notre

State

Irish
head
coach
Brian
Kelly
takes
his
first
road
trip.
His
quarterback
Dayne
Crist
suffered
a head
injury
last
week
in the
first
series
but
came
back
in the
second
half
to erase
a 14-point
deficit.
It is
crucial
that
he gets
protection
as the
back
ups
went
scoreless
in eight
possessions
against
Michigan.
The
receiving
cast
for
Notre
Dame
is exceptional.
Led
by tight
end
Kyle
Rudolph
and
rising
true
freshman
receiver
T.J.
Jones,
the
Irish
should
be able
to throw
the
ball
on a
Spartan
secondary
that
got
beat
deep
multiple
times
versus
Florida
Atlantic
last
week.
Last
year
this
unit
had
a brutally
bad
showing.
While
the
Spartan
secondary
appears
to be
more
aligned
on paper,
the
results
need
to be
shown
on the
field.
Michigan
State
won't
rack
up the
type
of yards
Denard
Robinson
and
Michigan
laid
on the
Irish
but
they
do have
a stud
running
back
in Edwin
Baker
who
eerily
reminds
fans
of former
star
Javon
Ringer.
The
run
blocking
looks
to be
the
most
effective
it has
been
in East
Lansing
in quite
some
time.
Irish
sophomore
linebacker
Manti
Te'o
continues
to live
up to
his
billing
and
will
be a
key
to shutting
down
this
rushing
attack.
Spartan
QB Kirk
Cousins
has
promised
the
passing
attack
will
get
better.
Being
able
to line
up and
run
with
the
ball
will
continue
to be
the
key
however.
The
Irish
must
do a
better
job
this
week
at stopping
it.
This
is another
barnburner
in the
making.
The
team
with
the
ball
last
will
have
a chance
to win. |

Look
for
more
shotgun
formations
with
Longhorn
QB Garrett
Gilbert.
The
strategy
change
helped
him
make
plays
last
week
versus
Wyoming
while
scrambling
much
like
Colt
McCoy
used
to accomplish.
This
is still
a tailback-by-committee
approach
with
Tre'
Newton,
Fozzy
Whittaker
and
Cody
Johnson
equally
sharing
the
load.
Texas
has
struggled
thus
far
in finishing
drives.
While
the
Longhorn
offense
has
appeared
to be
sleep
walking
against
inferior
opponents
through
the
first
two
weeks,
this
game
should
be an
eye-opener
that
digs
up a
little
better
emotional
effort.
The
Red
Raider
defense
is suspect
as proven
by allowing
New
Mexico
to pile
up 433
yards
and
23 first
downs
last
week.
That
won't
work
this
Saturday.
New
head
coach
Tommy
Tubberville
is confident
his
new
approach
of running
with
the
ball
and
playing
defense
will
hold
up.
Tailbacks
Eric
Stephens
and
Baron
Batch
lead
the
Tech
ground
attack.
It's
something
new
to watch
quarterback
Taylor
Potts
handing
the
ball
off
so much.
Texas
has
been
going
through
a makeover
with
this
defensive
front
seven.
Several
players
have
traded
positions.
They
shouldn't
have
extreme
trouble
this
week
as the
Red
Raiders
new
offense
meets
its
first
real
test.
The
game
is in
Lubbock
or this
could
be a
21-point
margin
of victory
for
Mack
Brown.
This
is no
longer
a game
where
60 total
points
is the
norm. |

This
is a
Hawkeye
team
that
fits
into
the
coach
Kirk
Ferentz
mold.
Solid
defense
is a
key.
Defensive
backs
Brett
Greenwood
and
Shaun
Prater
have
been
snagging
interceptions,
linebackers
Jeff
Tarpinian
and
Jeremiha
Hunter
are
making
tackles
and
the
defensive
line
led
by Karl
Klug
is sturdy.
The
good
news
is that
senior
QB Ricky
Stanzi
is finally
starting
to play
like
a veteran.
Receiver
Derrell
Johnson-Koulianos
is climbing
the
school's
record
book
in receptions
and
there
may
not
be enough
balls
to go
around
for
talented
running
backs
Adam
Robinson
and
Jewel
Hampton.
Arizona
will
counter
with
junior
QB Nick
Foles
who
has
shown
a good
command
through
the
first
two
games.
He ranks
11th
in the
nation
in passing
efficiency.
Running
back
Nic
Grigsby
continues
to show
he is
a big
play
threat.
But
this
defense
is not
The
Citadel
who
the
Wildcats
demolished
last
week.
Iowa
won
this
game
at home
fairly
convincingly
last
year.
They
will
win
again
this
year
but
the
odds
point
to a
much
closer
battle.
The
home
crowd
needs
to stay
in this
one
early
and
often.
Iowa
is just
too
hot
of a
football
team
right
now
and

Houston
40 UCLA
36 *(with
Keenum)
The
big
news
is that
it’s
unclear
whether
Case
Keenum
will
be under
center
for
Houston
after
suffering
a mild
concussion
last
Saturday.
The
big
news
on the
other
side
is that
UCLA
is trying
to avoid
their
first
0-3
start
since
1971.
If Keenum
can't
go,
Cotton
Turner
is more
than
an efficient
back
up who
went
9-of-10
passing
last
week
as the
fill
in.
The
Cougars
are
proving
to be
more
than
a passing
team
this
year.
RB Bryce
Beall
ran
for
a career-high
195
yards
last
week
and
that
is not
good
news
as UCLA
has
allowed
an average
of 268
yards
on the
ground.
Houston
won't
be as
physical
as the
Bruin's
first
two
opponents
Kansas
State
and
Stanford.
The
Bruins
get
Texas
next
week.
Who
made
up this
brutal
schedule
anyway?
Second
year
QB Kevin
Prince
has
suffered
through
a rough
start
tossing
three
interceptions
and
has
not
completed
a pass
longer
than
35 yards.
He has
not
been
aided
at all
by the
rushing
attack.
Houston's
secondary
is spotty.
If UCLA
and
Prince
are
going
to wake
up now
had
better
be the
time.
Coach
Rick
Neuheisel
has
put
together
three
excellent
recruiting
classes,
so perhaps
it's
just
a matter
of time
before
the
Bruins
really
take
off.
At least
that's
what
UCLA
has
to keep
telling
itself
as it
takes
its
lumps
with
shaky
quarterback
play,
an offensive
line
that
has
endured
some
losses
and
an inexperienced
defensive
front.
They
regroup
in this
one
and
win
if Keenum
does
not
play. |

Forest

Last
week
the
Demon
Deacons
looked
confused
when
Duke
went
back
to pass.
A suspect
pass
rushing
created
some
of the
shortcomings
too.
That
is not
a good
formula
for
crossing
over
to the
west
coast
against
a hot
Cardinal
team
under
the
direction
of quarterback
Andrew
Luck.
Opposing
coaches
who
have
already
faced
Luck
have
commented
on his
stellar
abilities,
although
Luck
did
not
have
one
of his
better
efforts
last
week
in the
shut
out
of UCLA.
Wake
Forest
has
been
getting
big
plays
from
its
offense,
which
is a
drastic
change
from
the
head
coach
Jim
Grobe
philosophy.
Tanner
Price
will
likely
play
quarterback
after
a hand
contusion
to starter
Ted
Stachitas
sidelined
him
last
week.
Receiver
Chris
Givens
is back
for
Wake
and
gives
them
a dangerous
weapon
on the
outside.
The
Cardinal
running
game
was
a major
concern
this
season
after
the
departure
of Toby
Gerhart,
but
the
Cardinal
ran
for
211
yards
against
UCLA,
with
most
of the
yardage
coming
right
up the
middle.
Tailback
Stepfan
Taylor,
who
made
his
first
career
start,
had
a team-high
81 rushing
yards,
and
QB Andrew
Luck
again
showed
he is
a threat
with
his
legs
as well
as his
arm.
The
Wake
Forest
defense
had
better
improve
by leaps
and
bounds
over
the
course
of the
week
if they
want
to stay
in this
game.
Jim
Grobe
is a
great
ball
coach
but
so is
Jim
Harbaugh.
The
redwood
trees
and
west
coast
time
do in
the
Deacs. |
